چکیده

AbstractObjective To compare the incidence, demographics and clinical outcomes of women presenting with possible non-cervical (NC) endocervical (EC) glandular neoplasms in their cervical smears. Study Design Retrospective analysis a prospective cohort within NHS Greater Glasgow Clyde- largest health organisation Scotland, UK. Methods Cases identified from Scottish Cervical Call Recall System between January 2013 December 2017. Incidence trajectories NC EC were reviewed. Results Two-hundred-and-thirty cases (NC = 41; EC=189) 486,240 smears evaluated. The incidence was 8.4 38.9 per 100,000 smear-year for EC, respectively. Compared to significantly older (p < 0.0001), had higher body mass index more likely present symptoms (58.5 % vs 10.5 %; p cancers (48.8 13.8 0.0001) died diseases (9.8 0.5 0.0001). Even asymptomatic screen-detected group, almost quarter (23.5 %) endometrial cancer. Age not associated high-risk histology 0.289). High-risk colposcopic appearance good positive predictive value (90.0 95 %CI: 81.2–95.6 histology, but poor negative (41.3 29–54 %). Negative excision margin favourable outcomes. Conclusions are rare, they distinct should be reported separately future studies. risks malignancies high, particularly NC, even if asymptomatic. Thus, prompt thorough investigations treatments required prevent treat malignancies.

As most patients diagnosed with AIS or mild to moderate GIL (grades I, II) are free from clinical symptoms, cytology has a very responsible role in the detec...
